Who We Are
Our Mission
The Alder Forest Project is in its foundational stage, with a mission to restore a neglected tract of land into a thriving, biodiverse forest ecosystem. This space will serve as a haven for native flora and fauna, provide hands-on environmental education, opportunities for volunteerism, and a unique venue for community and corporate events.

Our Focus Areas
Three Pillars of Restoration
Salmon Stream Restoration
A key component of our project is the removal of three fish passage barriers from a stream that flows directly into Hood Canal. These barriers currently obstruct salmon from reaching their historical spawning habitat. By restoring this vital stream connectivity, we aim to significantly improve the watershed's ecological health and support the recovery of local salmon populations.
Native Forest Stewardship
Ten acres of neglected land are being transformed into a biodiverse forest ecosystem. Native plantings, habitat restoration, and long-term ecological monitoring will create a lasting haven for wildlife and a living classroom for the community.
Free Community Education Center
We are planning to build a free, public community center at the site — a hub for environmental education, research, and long-term stewardship of the stream and surrounding forest. This center will host school groups, researchers, and local residents, fostering a deep and lasting connection to the land.
